Frankenstein (1818), una novela en la que narra las terribles consecuencias que acarrea la creación de un ser humano artificial. Luego de la muerte de su esposo en 1822, se dedicó a promover sus escritos y a educar a su hijo. Del resto de su obra, la mejor novela es
The Last Man [El último hombre] (1826), en la que narra la futura destrucción de la humanidad a causa de una plaga.
